No matter which month, year or state of ruin the world is in, a couple of things have actually always seemed consistent: a minimum of one feline asking for food in the early hours of the morning, seasonal allergic reactions and Hyundai providing a manual Elantra in America. Not to shake your faith in truth, but that last one is no more, as Hyundai’s dropping the handbook for 2020 and treking the base rate by nearly $2,000

Hyundai Motor America announced rates for the 2020 Hyundai Elantra on Tuesday, saying it shows up in dealerships this spring with much better fuel economy, more security features and a brand-new, standard continuously variable transmission (Spring is almost over, Hyundai, however don’t rush yourself or anything.)

All of that costs cash, though: The 2020 Elantra now starts at $18,950 prior to location costs, up nearly $2,000 from the 2019 beginning rate of $17,100 prior to destination. Standard features on the 2020 vehicle, from the base SE to the $23,800 Limited trim, include dual automated temperature level control and safety technology like forward collision-avoidance help, lane-keep help and driver-attention warning, which identifies drowsy or neglectful driving and informs the chauffeur of it.

However one of the greatest distinctions isn’t in security features, it’s in transmission and trim offerings. Starting in the 2020 design year, the manual isn’t consisted of on American models– upping costs and reducing trim alternatives. Hyundai’s also moving from its six-speed automated to the CVT on the Elantra, and keeping its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission on the Eco and Sport trims.

Everything considered, the new transmission lineup for the 2020 Elantra looks similar to that of the 2020 Soul from Hyundai’s sis business, Kia:

Unfortunately, it appears like all things do come to an end– even the manual Hyundai Elantra. Now, if someone might simply do something about these seasonal allergies and hungry cats at 5 a.m., it might make this news a little simpler to bear.
